The Chicago Chapter of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators traces its history back to the Warren Filing Association, founded in 1917. The Chicago Chapter was one of the Charter members of the American Records Management Association. Official documents of the Chapter indicate the following significant dates:
- 1917: Warren Filing Association founded.
- 1932: Chicago Filing Association founded.
- February 23, 1952: Records Management Association of Chicago incorporated.
- February 12, 1957: Re-incorporation of organization as American Records Management Association, Chicago Chapter.
- September 28, 1961: Date recorded as receiving ARMA Charter.
- 1975: ARMA International founded from American Records Management Association and Association of Records Executives and Administrators.
- Chicago has been the host of four ARMA Conferences, in 1956, 1963, 1971 and 1997
- Past Presidents of the Chicago Chapter
- Past Association Presidents from the Chicago Chapter
