Meeting

WORKSHOP: I'm not completely sure how I became a records manager, so how in the world can I take control of my career?

This presentation will help you evaluate your achievements and accomplishments in your profession so that you can continue to market yourself and your value to your current or your future employer. You will learn strategies on how to create awareness of the value you bring to your organization by inventorying your achievements and selling yourself every day. Workshop participants may find it beneficial to bring their resumes or job descriptions; however, this is completely optional.

Suzy Stoll has been an executive, third party recruiter for more than eight years and has facilitated roughly 500 job placements to date. In March 2005, Ms. Stoll joined InfoCurrent Information Management Staffing, where she focuses solely on recruitment and staffing in the records management profession. She has a Bachelors Degree Finance and Mathematics from Indiana University in Bloomington , IN , and currently serves as the Membership Committee Chairperson for ARMA Chicago chapter.

PROGRAM: Marketing your RIM Program

How many people in your organization actually know what your RIM program does?  They may know to call you for certain things, but do they understand what you do?  More importantly, does Senior Management, know what you do?  How can you promote your RIM program to individuals in key departments in your organization, such as legal, IT, etc. In a world where electronic information seems to be the focus of so many, how can you show that records and information management concepts are still relevant?  This program will give you skills and ideas that will help you market yourself and your RIM program to your internal audience.

Susan McKinney, CRM has been the Director of Records and Information Management at the University of Minnesota since December, 1995.  Prior to that, she had been the Director of Records Management at the University of Florida for 10 years.  In addition, Susan worked for the Balch Institute for Ethnic Studies and Seton Hall University . Susan has been very active in the records management field, starting the Gainesville/North Central Florida ARMA Chapter and the Florida Records Management Association.  She also serves as owner/host of the Records Management Listserv, and is currently the President-Elect ARMA International.
